We’ve all been spending more time indoors – so even the reluctant homebody will be happy to receive these creative and cosy gifts this Christmas

Art attack
Like a dress or piece of jewellery, buying someone an original artwork is a bold choice — but one that can pay dividends. At least with the Affordable Art Fair, you can invest in beautiful contemporary pieces without having to remortgage your house. We love this vibrant floral piece by artist Nicola Hyslop, which will definitely brighten up any wall. Jupiter no.41 by Nicola Hyslop, £4,250; affordableartfair.com

Stitch in time
A colourful new throw is a genius way to transform a tired sofa and freshen up your living room. This jazzy number from East London-based Ambar Living is the work of graphic designer duo Craig & Karl and is made from cosy 100% Woolmark-certified merino wool. Craig and Karl throw, £345; ambarliving.com

Mirror, mirror
Trust Armani/Casa, the interiors branch of fashion guru Giorgio Armani, to add a touch of Italian decadence to any home. This contemporary four-panel mirror screen will undoubtedly be a nightmare to wrap up and stick under the tree, but will cement your style credentials tenfold. Ombra screen, £20,700; armani.com

Prints charming
London-based artist Yinka Ilori has certainly been making his mark on the British capital with his trademark colourful murals and installations. This month saw the long-awaited launch of his first-ever homeware collection. Brighten up someone’s Christmas with these statement kitchen and living room staples branded with Ilori’s cheerful contemporary prints, inspired by his British-Nigerian heritage. Custom made using sun-soaked rum barrels from the Bacardi distillery in Puerto Rico, this limited-edition integrated music console and bar cart designed by renowned furniture designer Hugh Miller will make a stylish addition to any home. Waxing lyrical
Italian bronze artist Osanna Visconti has captured the undeniable beauty of melting wax – and our compulsion to peel it off – in this exceptional candle holder, designed exclusively for French perfume maison Diptyque. Available in gothic black patina or opulent gold, this is a miniature masterpiece to treasure. Osanna Visconti candle holder, from £1,365; theinvisiblecollection.com

Pillow talk
Under the direction of creative director Alessandro Michele, Gucci has taken maximalism to the next level. Think bright colours, kitsch cartoons and logos and retro patterns – preferably all worn at the same time. This lively aesthetic naturally extends to the House’s interiors range. Part of the new ‘Souvenir from Rome’ collection is this plush velvet cushion. Its floral jacquard pattern and tassels give it a traditional appearance at first glance, but the jewel green hue and intertwined double G emblem make it indisputably Gucci. Velvet floral jacquard cushion, £750; gucci.com

Best foot forward
Our 2020 wardrobes have largely consisted of loungewear. And no matter how well our intentions started, we have all shifted to more comfortable (read: frumpy) staples. British menswear label Hamilton and Hare is on a mission to banish ugly slippers this Christmas with a stylish collaboration with footwear brand Mulo. Combining a contemporary backless shape with H&H’s sustainable, natural fabrics, this elegant pair will see you through winter and beyond. Mulo x HH Slipper, £135; hamiltonandhare.com

Book smart
‘Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful,’ are the oft-quoted words of wisdom from 19th-century designer William Morris. And what could be more beautiful than this stunning limited-edition book from The Folio Society? Limited to 750 copies, with fewer than 100 left, Love is Enough is a faithful reproduction of the polymath’s poetic masterpiece in an exquisitely detailed collectable. Love is Enough by William Morris and illustrated by Beatrice Pagden, £260, available exclusively at foliosociety.com

Take a seat
Vinterior, the online marketplace for exceptional vintage interiors conceived by Sandrine Zhang Ferron, is a treasure trove of characterful, beautiful pieces for every room in your home. And we defy anyone not to add this fluffy Fritz Hansen Model 1672 Sheepskin Wing Chair from the 1940s to the top of their wish list. Even Zhang Ferron herself has earmarked it as a nursing chair since she went on maternity leave, “I’ve been looking for a nursing or high back chair to make the numerous breastfeeding sessions more comfortable and this is desirable and incredibly comfortable”. £4,550, vinterior.co
