Family-owned Geneva watchmaker Patek Philippe unveiled 15 new timepieces at the recent prestigious Watches & Wonders international fair, reaffirming its commitment to refining prized models while revitalising classic collections with refreshed design codes. And, true to the house’s specialism, in the mix are dizzy innovations in complications. Featuring a strong lineup, the highlight has to be the stunning Quadruple Complication Ref. 5308G which presents the engineering feat of combining a minute repeater, split-seconds chronograph and instantaneous perpetual calendar in a white gold 42mm case. Meanwhile, the Twenty~4 range for women is gifted its first-ever complication with a perpetual calendar housed in a new non-gem-set rose gold case with matching elegant rose gold bracelet. 

Adding to the handsome “square with rounded edges” Cubitus family, launched last autumn, are two new time-only relatives with a slightly smaller case size at a versatile 40mm, in white gold with a blue dial and rose gold paired with brown. Another striking daily wearer is the Calatrava Ref. 6196P-001, a fresh take on the reference first launched in 1932. Now in platinum, the 38mm piece continues the range’s Bauhaus-inspired minimalist aesthetic and its wonderful clean, opaline rose-gilt dial delivers a warmly vintage vibe that is enhanced by the contrasting anthracite-coated white gold hour markers and dauphine hands. 

Showcasing the company’s renowned craftsmanship and expertise in métiers d’art – Rare Handcrafts – there’s also a beautifully made complicated desk clock to admire, inspired by those commissioned in the 1920s. The complex piece is decorated with flinqué grand feu enamel, and houses a 31-day power reserve running weekly and perpetual calendars. Something for every watch connoisseur, for sure.
