The background
Previously only available at Gaucho’s flagship restaurant in Piccadilly, the high-end Argentinian steakhouse has rolled out its popular Electro Brunch Feast to six more of its London locations. The brunch is now available at the Broadgate, Canary, City, Piccadilly, Sloane, Smithfield and Tower Bridge restaurants, every Saturday from 11am to 4pm. While you dine, a DJ spins tunes that are loud enough to create a lively vibe, yet still allow you to enjoy a conversation with your fellow revellers.
The space
Gaucho’s trademark dark and sophisticated interior is punctuated with mirrored and metallic features and textured wall coverings inspired by nature and sumptuous furnishings. Warm and ambient lighting creates a cosy and cocoon-like environment, making it easy to lose track of time and switch off from the outside world. The Tower Bridge restaurant offers spectacular views of the historic London landmark, making it an especially impressive location.
The menu
The Electro Brunch Feast features 10 dishes and (if you can manage it) you can try them all, as the menu offers unlimited food and drink within a two-hour window. There’s a range of drinks to choose from including Bloody Marys, Domaine Chandon sparkling wine, Gaucho’s exclusively brewed Rubia Pilsener and fruit juices, while the “premier” brunch option also includes espresso martinis, pornstar martinis and Chandon rosé.
The steak and eggs is the hero dish – the lean, flavoursome and generous 180g-rump cut offers a taste of the premium Black Angus, grass-fed beef that lies at the heart of Gaucho’s success. Naturally for a brunch menu, eggs feature prominently – enjoy them perfectly poached and served Florentine or Royale, or try the speciality Gaucho Benedict with the usual ham replaced with tender salt beef, seasoned with fragrant herbs. Then there are tasty sandwiches filled with smoked bacon and melt-in-the-mouth chorizo, and a mini full English including a sausage, fried egg, baked tomato and plump button mushrooms served in a cast iron skillet, keeping the dish lovely and hot while you try to work your way through the dishes arriving at the table. Vegetarians are reasonably well catered for too with lemony smashed avocado toast, garnished with zesty micro-coriander, a satisfyingly gooey baked Provoleta cheese dish and the aforementioned eggs Florentine.
You can order what you’d like, or simply let the waiting staff bring food to your table until you ask them to stop. Just remember to save room for the cinnamon churros with warm dulce de leche dessert, which – paired with an espresso martini – is the perfect finale.
The bill

If you’re looking for a lively atmosphere and generous servings of good quality food and drink then the Gaucho Electro Brunch won’t disappoint. You’ll leave in a happy haze feeling merry and satisfied – it’s highly unlikely you’ll even think about food again for at least 12 hours.
