On Thursday 12 July, Brummell magazine was delighted to celebrate its annual Ones to Watch listing with legendary rock photographer Denis O’Regan at the Paul Smith global flagship store in Mayfair.
Throughout the evening, the Ones to Watch finalists and their guests explored the store’s eclectic treasures, curated by Sir Paul Smith himself, and were invited to meet revered music photographer Denis O’Regan as he enthralled guests with anecdotes and iconic images from David Bowie’s 1983 Serious Moonlight Tour. ‘Being David, he wasn’t very good at taking compliments,’ he recalled. ‘I said, “It’s because of you that I became a rock photographer.” And he said, “Yeah, you’ll probably tell Bono the same thing tomorrow night.”’
In the store’s basement, a slideshow displayed images of the finalists from Brummell‘s Ones to Watch photo shoot, alongside the names of each of the 30 men and women featured in the listing. This year’s list focused on those who are out-performers in their industry, and beyond that, demonstrate drive, energy and an entrepreneurial spirit. On the night, many of the guests shared their knowledge and expertise of the industry with Brummell, which can be seen on Brummell’s Instagram feed and on the Brummell website.
Guests also had the opportunity to take part in a tour of the store, getting the lowdown on Sir Paul’s objet d’arts, as well as getting up-close and personal with his elegant summer collection.
The sparkling event was an uplifting celebration of the achievements of the City’s leading ‘30 under 40’, who all prove that determination, innovation and self-belief are the key to success.
