De L’Europe Amsterdam is a beacon of timeless luxury and heritage, standing proudly as one of the city’s most renowned landmarks since 1896. This legendary hotel has captured the hearts of royals, artists and worldly travellers, embodying elegance and world-class service.
Perched on the banks of the Amstel River, De L’Europe masterfully blends historic grandeur with modern sophistication, offering a refined experience that celebrates its storied past while embracing contemporary luxury. It’s just a short walk from popular attractions like the Flower Market, Rembrandt Square and the Museum Quarter, making it a perfect base for exploring the city’s top cultural and shopping destinations.
This past spring, an exclusive new collection of suites debuted in the ‘t Huys wing – named after the Old Dutch word for “house”. Curated by some of the Netherlands’ most celebrated and visionary creatives, the ‘t Huys wing is a stunning fusion of art, design and luxury.
Each designer collaborated with the creative studio D/Dock to transform their visionary concepts into the functional layout of a hotel suite. These suites have been thoughtfully designed to serve multiple purposes, effortlessly integrating areas for rest, relaxation and work. By merging creativity with practicality, each suite offers a dynamic and versatile environment that elevates the guest experience to new levels of comfort and inspiration.
Robert-Jan Woltering, managing director of De L’Europe Amsterdam, says, ‘We are thrilled with the unveiling of ‘t Huys, a new concept for hospitality in Amsterdam. We have selected 14 of the Netherlands’ leading creatives to design a unique collection of suites, marking a new chapter in the story of our legendary city landmark as our city celebrates its 750th anniversary. We hope that the project will further cement our position as one of Amsterdam’s true cultural hotspots.’
Brummell was fortunate enough to stay in the stunning suite designed by the jewellery designer Bibi van der Velden, where we were enveloped in her vibrant universe and treated to panoramic views of Amsterdam. This haven is adorned with a captivating mix of tactile textures, accentuated by exquisite gemstones. A focal point of the room is the large ceramic necklace that graces the living area. This one-of-a-kind piece, inspired by the beauty of nature, serves as an excellent conversation starter, reflecting Bibi’s passion for creating art that celebrates the organic forms and colours found in the natural world.
An array of remarkable amenities is featured in the suite. At its heart is a Coco-Mat bed crafted from all-natural materials, ensuring one of the most restful night’s sleep imaginable. The luxurious satin bed linens, with a thread count of 400, add an extra layer of comfort and refinement. The all-marble bathroom is a true sanctuary, complete with a rain shower and a built-in bath, stocked with Diptyque amenities for pure indulgence. Additionally, the attentive housekeeping service provided twice daily ensures that every detail is cared for, allowing guests to fully relax and savour their stay.
A highlight of the stay is the exclusive opportunity for a personal shopping visit to Bibi van der Velden’s atelier in the heart of the city. This tailored shopping experience infuses your visit with glamour, inviting you to explore the enchanting world of Bibi’s creations. If you’re interested in arranging this memorable visit, the concierge team is at your service to assist you.
De L’Europe Amsterdam offers exceptional dining with three wonderful restaurants that you simply can’t miss. Guests can enjoy seasonal delights at the stunning Brasserie Marie, which features a riverside terrace, making it the perfect spot for summer dining. To indulge in authentic Italian cuisine, Trattoria Graziella offers a cosy experience within the hotel’s ‘t Huys, serving a range of freshly made pasta dishes under the warm glow of candlelight.
