On 25 October, Brummell magazine was delighted to invite an exclusive selection of its Inspirational Women alumni and its Women of Brummell network to an enchanting evening organised by top-tier watchmaker Patek Philippe at its stunning New Bond Street Salon.

A friendly and knowledgeable team of Patek Philippe brand experts welcomed the enthusiastic guests to a champagne and canapé reception, before guests were invited to peruse the spectacular array of watches displayed around the Salon. One of the brand’s in-house watchmakers was present to provide a fascinating insight into the time and intricate craftsmanship involved in making Patek Philippe’s exquisite timepieces, with guests able to ask him technical questions about the skills and training required.

The highlight of the evening was an insightful Q&A with renowned horology journalist and watch expert Tracy Llewellyn, exploring the history and significance of women’s timepieces at Patek Philippe, and how the brand has elevated its women’s watch collections by creating more pieces containing haute horlogerie complications.

Guests learned about Patek Philippe’s unwavering commitment to the highest level of watchmaking expertise and the signature details of some of its contemporary designs, as well as its historic understanding of what female clients want from their timepieces – today it’s clear they are looking for more mechanical watches, including watches with additional functions, complications.

And, whether it is a beautiful, simple model, or an impressively complex piece, there are many ways to customise each and every Patek Philippe watch, from simply changing the strap to choosing different finishing techniques on the dial. Llewellyn praised Patek Philippe for designing watches especially for women, rather than labelling them as “unisex”.

From the current collection, one of the most popular ladies’ models is the new Aquanaut, the largest in the line that the brand has ever made for women, at 38.5mm. One of Llewellyn’s personal favourite pieces is the scintillating new women’s Nautilus that has just been released, featuring spessartite baguette gems in cognac hues around the dial, adding a colourful twist to the classic Nautilus design.

After the discussion, guests were able to continue to enjoy the convivial ambiance at the Salon, while networking with other Inspirational Women, catching up with familiar faces and meeting new acquaintances. The evening was a suitably sophisticated celebration of Patek Philippe’s ladies’ timepieces, as well as the achievements and successes of Brummell’s Inspirational Women, who are at the forefront of positive change and innovation in the City.
