Certina’s robust DS Action Diver gets a sleek new monochromatic update that delivers style and precision

When it comes to picking a diving watch, while style is a consideration, practicality and precision are key. And for a no-nonsense timepiece that is up to the rigours of everyday wear, as well as slightly more daring underwater excursions, Certina is a safe pair of hands.

Its DS Action Diver delivers on all fronts, equipped with a number of features that more than meet the requirements of the ISO 6425 standard, the benchmark for diving watches. The watchmaker’s DS (Double Security) concept encapsulates a range of features designed to keep the timepiece safe and ticking in even the most testing conditions.

Here, this includes a water resistance of 300m, with its screw-down crown and caseback keeping the mechanics within well protected – the latter feature some of Certina’s most reliable watchmaking. As well as a substantial 80-hour power reserve, more than comfortable for longer dives, the Powermatic movement is fitted with a Nivachron balance spring that brings enhanced protection against magnetic fields that could throw off the timekeeping.

This latest version comes in a range of designs including this sleek monochromatic model, with its uni-directional bezel presented in polished black ceramic, chosen for its scratch-resistant properties. The shade is matched by the dial, and its ultra-legible design is bolstered by hands and indexes coated in Super-LumiNova. It comes on a steel bracelet, or fabric strap made from plastics recycled from the oceans.
